Thank You card!

Hello Everyone and Welcome to Sherrie Scraps with Passion!!!

Happy Friday!! I am so glad for the weekend. I have been working like crazy around here and looking forward to getting out of town tomorrow to attend a wedding. I just need to get away from all this sorting, cleaning, washing, organizing for a while. Will I see light at the end of the tunnel soon?? Ugh!

I do have a quick card to share with you today. I used the Quic Kutz Nesting Eyelet Circles die for the base and base layer. The papers are from We R Memory Keepers-Yankee Doodles line.

I cut the bell at 3 1/4 plus the layers from the Independence Day cartridge. I layered in out some fun burlap that I purchased from Liz's Paper Loft Boutique which I just love using. I added a couple of buttons, a bow and a tag from My Creative Time-Teeny Tiny Greetings set to finish up the card.

IBSIC #15~Red, White & Blue

Hello and Welcome to Sherrie Scraps with Passion!!!

Hi my Crafty Friends,

It's been a bit crazy and overwhelming lately for me and I apologize for not getting around to see everyone's projects. I promise I will be back real soon...... as soon as we finish getting things back in order. Thanks for understanding and for your patience..I miss all of you!

I am really excited that Joanna asked me to be the featured Guest Designer for the IBSIC #15 Photo Inspiration Challenge over at her challenge blog called Inspired by Stamping.  I had stumbled on this challenge blog awhile ago and have really enjoyed playing in her challenges. Her team of designers are super talented, creative and very inspirational. Joanna also has an amazing stamp line. So, be sure to pop over and check it out, you won't be sorry! Thanks again Joanna for having me!

This is my project I have created for Joanna's challenge. I was asked to create a project using red, white and blue and this photo for inspiration....

I have made a decorative frame for my Granddaughter, Arya's first 4th of July celebration. I thought it would be fun to take a picture of her at the 4th of July parade all dressed up, add it to the frame and give it to her Mommy and Daddy as a surprise.

The papers I used are from We R Memory Keepers-Stack Pack-red, white and blue collection. I cut the "celebrate" from the Straight from the Nest cartridge at 1.94 x 5.35. The fireworks are cut at  1 1/4 and 1 3/4 from the Stand & Salute cartridge. The scalloped edging around the picture opening is from Spellbinders-Grand Scallop Rectangles die and then traced the window opening and cut out with exacto knife. The 4th of July is cut at 2.57 x 2.64 from the Independence Day cartridge and the sweet little girl is cut at 3 1/2 plus her layers from the Baby Steps cartridge.

I added a cute little face using the PK~Wide Eyed Kids set, added some rosy cheeks and glossy accents for the eyes. I finished it by adding a couple bows, some doodling and some bling around the frame. Now, it just needs the picture :)  Be sure to check out the amazing DT projects HERE for inspiration and join in the challenge!

I am entering this in the following challenges:
1.) Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #59-red, white and blue with ribbon
2.) Scrappy Moms Stamps ~Terrific Tuesday Challenge-Patriotic Pride
3) Cricut Cardz Challenge #111 ~Summer Fun

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Hello...

Hi Everyone,

I want to start off saying "Thanks" to all of your for your sweet comments and prayers for all of us that were affected by the flooding here in MN. I am so very touched by the messages and emails that I have received! Thank you all so much!!

There is still a lot to do but making huge progress!  We had our lower level flooded which was a large family room, bedroom, utility room, bathroom/shower and sauna room and laundry room. We spent every bit of 2 days trying to just get the water out, furniture, clothing, etc hauled out of that level. Then we tore out all the carpeting and padding...oh my gosh, is that heavy!! We had a company come in and sanitize, deodorize and spray for mold. They set up 6 large industrial fans and 2 large dehumidifiers for 3 days and then came back and sprayed again. Things are drying up finally!

On Friday evening (very late) we discovered our water heater went out which was a big pain as I had all this wet stuff I was trying to wash, UGH! Bad timing for that to go out...anyway, we are up and running again. Thank goodness!

There is still a lot to do but I really think I need to walk away from it for a few days since I have been so consumed by it....so maybe I will get to my craft room just for a peace of mind and create something :)
I will be posting a project really soon the I actually had almost done before the flood. I will be sharing that with you sometime tomorrow.

Thanks again for being so kind and thoughtful!  I hope to be back real soon :)
Hugs,
Sherrie K

Taking a break!

Hi Everyone,

I am writing to let you know that I will have to take a break from blogging right now as MN has been pounded with so much rain the last 4 days and several business, homes are flooded and roads are washed away. The Governor has declared a state of emergency this afternoon.

Our home was one of many that are flooded. We have a major mess that needs my attention so please understand I will not be commenting or visiting blogs for a few days until we get a better handle on this mess.  Please say some prayers for the families and that this clean up will go rather quickly and we can all get back to enjoying life. I will keep you updates when I can!

Proud to be an American!

Hello and Welcome to Sherrie Scraps with Passion!!

Happy Wednesday all!! I hope your all having a awesome week so far. I have been a busy bee here trying to catch up on things, get my house in order as the next two weekends we are out of town for weddings. It's been a good week though because my guys have all been gone to Canada fishing. It's amazing how much you can get done when everyone is gone!

I had a little time yesterday to pop in my craft room and made a card for the Peachy Keen Stamps Sketch Challenge which I thought would be fun to join in.

I made this card using papers from We R Memory Keepers-Yankee Doodle. My card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 and the base layer is 5 1/4 x 5 1/4. The pattern paper is cut at 5 1/4 x 4 1/2 which I rounded the edges. I embossed the 3 banners with the star folder and added some fun bakers twine around them along with a bow. The little girl is cut from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge at 4.50 along with the layers, using my gypsy so I could hide the face to use the adorable Peachy Keen~wide eyed kids set. I gave this cutie patootie rosy cheeks and used glossy accents on her eyes. I embossed her dress and hair with the divine swirls folder, added a little doodling, bling and the awesome sentiment is from My Creative Time ~My Little Firecracker set.

My card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 base and the smaller layers are 2 1/2 x 5 and 3 x 5 which I inked the edges using Tim Holtz-Old Paper distressing ink. The pattern papers are from Heidi Grace-Daisy Dear. The awesome sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping called Heartfelt Gratitude. Beautiful ha?

Fantabulous Cricut #116-Blue Bells

Hello and Welcome to Sherrie Scraps with Passion!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Don' t they always go fast? We always seem to cram so much in and Monday is here before we know it :( I had a lot of friends along with my daughter who ran the HUGE Grandma's marathon this weekend. They had over 17,000 runners. Isn't that crazy? Seriously, I would croak 15 minutes into it but, kudos's to my daughter who finished the race and was proud of her time. This was her first year of training and says she's excited to race again. Congrats April!

It is my design team day over Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog today. This project will be my last design team project at FCCB.  I am definitely going to miss everyone!  I hope to play in some of the future challenges if time allows. I have an extremely busy schedule the next couple months with my daughters wedding and a lot on my plate right now.  I can't "thank" Robin enough for having me. I have enjoyed every minute of it and have enjoyed all the team members!! Thanks again for this wonderful opportunity Robin!

The Challenge Me Monday challenge is-Blue Bells. Create a project with a bell, church or cross-including the color blue (doesn't have to be religious)

Here is my project:

I have always loved the bell cut on the Wrap it Up cartridge and so I thought I would create a card using that cut. Take a look HERE for another project using this same bell cut when I was a GD for FCCB last June.

I used Spellbinders Grand Scallop Rectangles for the base of the card which was inked up using SU-Bashful Blue. I used the smaller scallop die for the base layer which I embossed with the Divine Swirls folder. I cut the bell at 4" along with the layers. The bell layer in silver was cut from pre-embossed paper I had in my stash-no idea where I got it from, but love it:)

I added  a fun double bow using Stampin Up using gray taffeta ribbon and a small tag from My Craft Spot called tiny tags. I heat embossed the "For the Newlyweds" sentiment to assure no smudging on this shiny paper. I added beautiful rose trimmings from Tim Holtz and some beaded pearls and gem flourishes to finish the card.
I am entering this in a challenge at Paper Playtime ~Say it with sentiments-Anything Goes!

Hello and Welcome to Sherrie Scraps with Passion!!

I hope you are all having a great day!! I am sorry I have been a bit behind commenting and getting to my blog, but it's just been a bit crazy!! A lot of my spare time right now is going towards working on projects for my daughter's wedding which is this fall. I am working on invites and decorations along with the bridesmaids for the upcoming shower.  It's been fun but not leaving me any time to craft for my blog :(

We took in a Minnesota Twins game last night and oh my gosh, was it a beautiful evening!  Great time by all!! We are also enjoying our visit with our son, who is home on vacation til next week. My boys and hubby are taking off to Canada along with 14 others to take in some good fishing. So, I am hoping to get in my craft room some while they are gone....yippy!

I was able to find a little time while Arya was napping to get in my craft room this afternoon to create a card. My card today is using a fun new cartridge that I just purchased called Paper Dolls Teen Scene. I can see having a lot of fun creating with this one.. :)

My card base  and base layer are cut using the Spellbinders Grand Scallop Rectangles. I embossed the smaller white scallop mat with a sizzix folder that came in the Birthday set #4 set and inked it with Tim Holtz-old paper.

I cut the girl at 4 1/2 and the boy at 4 3/4 from the Paper Dolls Teen Scene along with all the layers. The tag is from Spellbinders Fancy tag set and the sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps ~Sun Kissed. To finish the card, I added a fun double bow, twine and button.
